17 Years in Review
On the heels of our 17th birthday, I reflected on more than just our accomplishments; it’s amazing what we have seen with the changes in the Internet and in business.
In 1996, WebXess, Inc. was a contender in the web hosting world, which was a very different place with some interesting competition. In just a few short years, we found ourselves in a custom web development space serving a wide variety of customers, in locations from West Coast America to Asia. By the early 2000s, we were melting more technical with design, and in 2001 we found our true brand.
This young period of the WWW also met with some unfortunate stories about some of our competing web providers disappearing or going under.
The middle 2000s showcased high-flying success for many businesses and some of our customers grew their once small businesses on a shared hosting account to multiple dedicated servers serving 10,000+ hungry shoppers.
In 2004, we increased our growth with acquisitions of competing web hosts including accounts from the well-branded DellHost.
2009 seemed the beginning of a big struggle for a lot of companies, as some businesses downsized or closed their doors. But some companies have since redirected their offerings and adopted new ways of communicating. Some once very traditional businesses transformed into online, mobile, and social powerhouses.
In the last few years as we closely engaged with our SEO clients, we learned so much more about communication and interaction online, how people’s minds have changed, that mobile phones are not going away, and how people are really finding new products.
How are you doing things differently now compared to your starting days? What is in store for the future?
